Blackwell carries being told he would be paid / “no particular bargain.” Robert’s printed carrier separately attributes an expectation of nothing from any person and that he went to accommodate them. Changed since the earlier COMPARE: the promise clause remains pronoun-ambiguous; one carrier does not repair the other.

First-class companion work should preserve participant, bounded act, visibility, and return state without turning the Folio into live co-editing, presence theater, or forced consensus.

Mary’s “registered in Mississippi” remains witness-carried and administratively untyped. The Commission later names a specific approved Article XIV location-roll search object. This Folio does not identify those carriers as the same register.

RG 75 Entry 259 carries a Bell Robert occurrence. This is an administrative compilation layer, not automatically the original claimant list.

The current source-facing spine identifies an earlier Alphabetical List of Choctaw Reserves with Bell Robert in the Leflore district run, source page 26.
Do not merge this occurrence automatically with every later Robert. Its comic job is simply to establish that “Robert exists in the paperwork” is not a late invention.

OHC_2110 visibly carries David Bell and Robert Bell together in a handwritten claimant body identified as a later true copy of the original.

Robert is source-visible in the surviving copy. The copy is not the original. Its relation to the earlier reserve compilation and later approved-location population must be demonstrated rather than assumed.
This is one of the joke’s cleanest visual beats because nothing needs to be inferred: David, then Robert, simply sit there.
The typed / congressional list looks much thinner.
Ten remembers a strong selection pattern in which many European-sounding Bell and McKinney names disappear from the typed body, including names carrying source-written mixed-blood wording in the handwritten material.

This folio does not convert that remembered comparison into a settled finding yet.
Allowed question: What exact handwritten population was transformed into what exact typed / congressional population, and which names survived or disappeared?
Not allowed: infer motive from the selection pattern.
The pattern may become very funny if the source comparison earns it. The motive remains outside the joke unless a source supplies one.
The paper itself has had a life.
Ten remembers a handwritten-list cover with an obvious scraped / wiped-looking physical scar, joking that somebody may have wiped a razor blade on it.

The comic image is good. The present folio treats the razor explanation as Ten’s observation/joke until the exact face is reopened and the physical mark is described source-facing.
Damage is real only when the object shows it. Cause remains open.
Robert returns in the later adjudicative population.
The later index carries Bell, Robert (1837). The governing key says the marker identifies claims adjudicated by commissioners.

1837 ≠ “added back” by itself.
The funny thing survives anyway: Robert is present in a later government body after being absent from another relevant population. The missing connective verb is part of the joke’s machinery, not a reason to kill the joke.
“No Robert Bell appears.”
In Mary Caroline Atkinson’s examination, the Commission checks the President-approved Article XIV location-roll population it names and says no Robert Bell appears there.

This is a real negative, but only for the named approved-location population.
It does not mean Robert never registered, never claimed, or appears nowhere else in Article XIV records.
The comedy is stronger because the government is not generally clueless here. It is confidently consulting a particular book and giving a bounded answer from that book.
Where the joke may actually live
The government does not simply “lose Robert once.” It keeps producing different record populations in which Robert’s visibility changes, then later treats one of those populations with great confidence while deciding whether a living family belongs to its historical Robert.
Possible comic rhythm:
They have Robert.
Then they do not have Robert in the book they are checking.
Then another government body has Robert again.
Then in 1900 they return to the Robert-less book and say, with perfect administrative confidence: no Robert here.

That is a working comic construction, not a historical proposition. The folio’s job is to let every piece be opened until the wit earns itself.
